About

MAIGA VIDAL is a Chilean-born, Los Angeles-raised musical theatre
writer, playwright, translator, and content creator. Her goal is to create
more diversity in theatre by writing new works centering women,
queer, Latine, and immigrant stories.

Her work includes CAFÉ CON LECHE (Book, Music & Lyrics; 2024
Album with New York Theatre Barn/Theatre Barn Records, 2024 New
York University, Tisch HEAR US Grant, 2023 Latine Musical Theatre Lab
Julia de Burgos Cohort and 4xLatine Production), STING! pinch.
(Original Concept & Lyrics; 2024 New York City Center Ann Reinking
Encores! Choreography Fellowship Performance), and TREAT ME
SOFTLY (Play; 2022 Reading with El Centro Reading Play Lab).

Vidal is currently pursuing her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from
New York University, Tisch with a graduation date of May 2025.
Additionally, she was selected as one of the 100 up-and-coming
musical theatre writers for the 2024 Rooftop Writers Initiative with
Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway, the Stephen Sondheim Foundation,
and the Jonathan Larson Grant. She is a proud member of the
Dramatist Guild of America, the MAESTRA and RISE Directories, and
Theatre West in Los Angeles. Passionate about demystifying the
musical theatre writing process, Vidal’s been sharing CAFÉ CON
LECHE’s development from page to stage in her original vlog series on
Youtube and Instagram, WRITING A MUSICAL!.
